• Joshua Was Tricked Into Making Peace with People Under Condemnation
  • While most cities prepared for war, the Gibeonites tried to make peace with Israel (verses 1-6)
  • Flattery and an appeal to reason overcome Israel’s suspicions (verses 7-14)
  • Joshua made a binding covenant that violated Israel’s covenant with God (verses 15-21)
• Practice Godly Discernment Whenever A Door Opens
  • The Gibeonites offered a great opportunity that Joshua didn’t take to the Lord (verses 14, Proverbs 3:5-6)
  • Not every open door is intended for you to go through
  • Use all of God’s resources to discern His will, don’t just “go with your gut”
