Sermon Outline

  • David’s Evil Led to Years of Sin and Violence
    • David’s sons learned from him how to commit the same kinds of sins
    • Later, David’s son launched a coup against him
    • Even after winning that war, David struggled with right and wrong
  • Failing to Confront Sin Only Leads to More Sin
    • Much of the evil happened because David refused to confront his sons’ sins
    • We must confront sin in those close to us, for everyone’s good
  • Failing to Fully Forgive Only Leads to More Sin
    • Much of the evil happened because David refused to forgive his son as he said he would
    • We must forgive like Jesus, for everyone’s good
  • When You Fail Ask the Lord to Restore You (Psalm 3)
    • David’s later years were a disaster but his failure wasn’t final
    • Jesus isn’t done with you, even if you fail – turn to Him and He will “lift your head”
