A Man After God's Heart

Sermon Series

King David is one of the great heroes of the Bible. God worked powerfully in and through his long life. David was a brave shepherd. A mighty warrior. A nation-building king. He was a musician, poet, and songwriter. He was a clear forerunner anointed by God to help us understand Jesus Christ, our eternal Shepherd and King. And yet, David certainly wasn’t a perfect man. Not by a long shot! He was an adulterer. A murderer. He was indecisive in the face of his family’s sin. And yet, through it all, David wasn’t rejected by God. Even his failures help us to understand God’s love, grace, and mercy, because above everything else, David was a man after God’s heart.

As we study David’s life in the Old Testament books of 1 and 2 Samuel, may we all grow in our own understanding of how to live our own lives after God’s heart.
