Change sometimes creates anxiety in us; we get used to life in a certain way. We become “creatures of habit.” As you know, we did make a change regarding the time of our early worship, moving it from 9:00 a.m. back to 8:45 a.m. Our congregation has adjusted well and I thank you. The transition has been a smooth one. Having an hour now in the Celebration/Praise Service instead of forty-five minutes is helping all of us in our worship experience. Thanks again for your flexibility in this.

We have just finished a month of missions' emphasis. We had an excellent missions’ conference. The speakers were indeed challenging. Then, in each of the four Sundays of April, we dealt with different aspect of missions, based on Acts1:8: International (Ends of the Earth), North American (Samaria), State (Judea), and Local (Jerusalem). It is amazing how God chooses to work through us to accomplish His purpose. Looking ahead, we have some important opportunities coming up.

• May 4 (AM): Senior Adult Day. We will also observe the Lord’s Supper in both morning services. Further, deacon nominees for the next term and spouses will be presented to the congregation. (PM): We will have a covered dish meal at 5:30 p.m. Details will be forthcoming. The meal will be followed by a Town Hall meeting where we will have an update on the progress being made on the six goals that were set at the retreat in Richmond in early February. I hope you can attend this important time of sharing as a congregation.

• May 10: Our church once again will have a Mega-Yard Sale for the community and our congregation. It will be from 8:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. This is a major fund raiser for the mission trips this year. I believe that we will once again be successful. There are always excellent" buys” here. Invite your friends and neighbors.

    • May 11: Mother’s Day.

• May 18: Deacon election.

• June 1: (AM): Youth Sunday. We will have youth lead our services that morning and recognize our graduating high school seniors. (PM): At 6:00 p.m. we will have a deacon installation and ordination service.

• June 8: (6:00 p.m.). Silent Live Auction (a major youth fundraiser). The fantastic auctioneer, Ted DeBruhl, will be here once again.

I hope you can participate in as many of these as possible. Have a great week and I look forward to worshipping with you on Sunday.
