Purpose of the Preschool
The Mother's Day Out (MDO) Preschool at Lake Ridge Baptist Church strives to provide children with creative learning opportunities and social experiences.  Our program is flexible; our classes are small and not rigidly structured and are led by qualified teachers who help meet each child's individual needs, encourage independent behavior, and develop creativity.

Another purpose of our program is to provide families with "child free" hours each week.  Since our preschool is a cooperative program, parents are responsible to act as Parent-Helpers.  MDO is not a babysitting service or a day-care center.

Most importantly, MDO is an outreach program of Lake Ridge Baptist Church and, as such, we use the Bible as a source of stories and songs.  Our program extends to the Lake Ridge community, a place where children are exposed to the universal concepts of God and love.

Frequently Asked Questions
  1. How many children are in a class?
There are typically 10 children in each class.

  2. Is there a waiting list?
Yes, we do have a waiting list for all age groups.  This list is constantly changing, however, and you are encouraged to call our office as soon as possible to get your child's name on our list.

  3. Are there more staff members in the younger classes?
There are two staff members in each of the younger classes.  In the older classes, there is one staff member and one parent helper.

  4. What is a cooperative program?  What is the requirement of parents?
Parents of the preschoolers enrolled in Lake Ridge Baptist Church's MDO program are required to act as Parent Helpers.  Days are split between being assigned here at the preschool and chaperoning a field trip - usually a total of six workdays during the school year.  Should a parent not be able to teach on the day he/she is scheduled, it is that parent's responsibility to contact another parent to take his/her place.

  5. Do you follow the Prince William County School System?
Yes, we follow Prince William County's schedule for vacation days, as well as for snow schedules.

  6. What kind of special activities are there for the preschool students?
We try to make the educational process as exciting as possible for our preschoolers.  MDO offers a field trip to the pumpkin patch, an art show/book fair, and a family night, as well as producing a Christmas pageant starring our preschoolers!  We also invite several educational groups to visit our children such as the Leesburg Animal Zoo.
